Byousoku 5cm ~ 秒速5センチメートル

Althought I have spoken about this long time ago... But I shall formally blog it today for real.
Presenting a Different Version from Crest and Bjorn's.

Overview
------------
This movie has being a subject of little discussion, much of its reason would be actually because there is much of a difficulty expressing out their thoughts.

For myself, I'll put it this way. I am currently in a situation similar to this, although in a much worse one than this. Thats why i feel that maybe i can look at this movie in a different view.

Byousoku 5cm, a movie which as its title shows, is a theme where distance, is compared to time.
What kind of distance? and what kind of time? Its being reflected that its the distance between people to people, from a point where they meet, till the part where they "stranger" themself. Like that of a petal falling off from a Sakura Tree.

We were introduced to the story revolving mainly Takaki Tohno and Akari Shinohara. Where the story begins and the development of the romance starts off. And towards the end where the Childhood love slowly deminish, into a past memory which Takai clings to and Akari as a sweet memory.

What was really felt here was that for my own pespective. When I notice the scene where Akari took out a letter as well, and look at it. Compared to the scene where Takaki drops the letter out from his pocket, there is a distinct difference in the thoughts to come.

The feeling which Takaki have, was a reverse from what Akari would have felt which is that he felt that the link, which he and Akari has once shared, Severed by the cruelty distance have being established. But for Akari, she felt a different view as, for a female (Being subjective, Please understand this is my view) would wonder, How much can she trust in this relationship she is having with him now.

And thus this opens up the Part 2, where Kanae Sumida was introduced, to the story of Takaki in his High School. We were shown that yet again, the distance now is bigger. For the fact that Takaki wrote emails, which he himself realise he never send or save. But just composed, with his vivid dream of viewing a grand view with someone, whom we can tell is Akari, but the features on her was never facing his way. It depict the situation where, he cannot confirm as well, if she can be sharing the same feeling as he is, as of now still towards her.

The feelings of Sumida, where she burst out into tears, also shows out by the scene where the rocket takes off. From there we see, that the shadow cast by the emission of the Rocket seperates the sky into 2 distinct faction. Where we can also tell from the fact that it shows no matter how, she can never replace Akari in Takaki's heart. As he never looked at her, but always somewhere behind her. Althought the feelings he give her is what she liked about him, she know herself that those feelings are also the pain she suffers under.

Which kind of bring out something real life. Have we ever over looked something around us? Have we ever over looked something important, just when we were focusing on another issue or thing which is important to us? It has always being, and will ever, be something which human will remorse after reliasing it.

And as the chapter close, we came to see that to Kanae, she can not let go of the feelings, even if it hurts her badly, she can never let it go. Which also depicts to us the willingness of a human being to cling on to something, even thought it might hurt us. Like how Takaki holds on to the feelings he have for Akari.

But soon in the last chapter, Where the compilation chapter shows, and where the theme song "One more time, One more chance" plays. We see to the point that for Takaki, the tiredness has wear him off, like how in one of the Bartender's episode have shown. That the sparkle he once had, has caused him to forever never be able to see the sparkle he sees in the past.

Shown in the relationship he have with Misuno, where they have dated 3 years and the Message she send to him, clearly displays out the fact that they might be dating, but his heart is never open to her.

The feelings he have now compared to the ones he have when he left the station after meeting Akari, would be something like a Galaxy loosing all its star. Where he lose the feelings, but only dig his head in to the world of the Adults everyday, day in day out. Until his numb from the situation.

For Akari, Life have moved on for her and clearly shown is the fact that she have gotten married. Appreantly for her is that life has to change, she adapted to the changes and grow from it.

As we can tell from the movie's ending, the song played while showing the characters, was very significant. We can see from the stanzas where Takaki is still looking, corners of the street, stations, like the previous encounters he had where Akari might be there. But for Akari, it was her with her husband, living a new life from her parents, with her Husband to be.

And as the song goes, it also reflects the feelings which Takaki have, he would want to, given the time, to share more time with Akari, given the chance, to say proudly to Akari that he love her and wants to cherish her. And also the fact that one of the stanza, shows the reason why his dating Misuno. Where his just trying to ease his emptyness.

And the last part of the movie, where the trains pass between them, we can clearly see that Takaki is moving away from the shadows, the painful feelings which he cling to, or rather the fact that his already used to or numb to. Where he let out his hands after the 2nd train passes by, clearly shows that he is in a despair, of how fate wants to toy him. But the smile he left with him as he turns, can be shown as a fact that his already used to, or rather, glad Akari was not over the other side of the Railroad.

For to him, even if Akari were to see him, what could happen? They cannot go back to they way they are, in the past. For she have moved on, with a new life. Even if Takaki has begin a new life, yet the sad feelings left would be that they could be a couple, but they never.

We look again at life, does liking someone means to be with that person forever? Sometimes this seems like a dumb question but yet, when we look at some way. Are we sure what we want is what we want years down the road? We can never know, and we can never tell.

I shall sign off for now. Leaving a gap for thoughts for you guys to see and think.
